Nature, no-nature  5. - 23.1.2005

In my exhibition I have considered nature in the city. I was born in Kallio in Helsinki.
Karhupuisto (Bear park) was my first playground, where there is a line of lindens,
a big wall of stones and a huge sculpture of a bear by Jussi Mäntynen in 1931.
Is the granite sculpture of a bear nature or does an image of a living bear belong to a nature?
Another sculpture of a bear has also been the motif of my paintings. It is placed in front of The National Museum overlooking the street. Emil Wikström made it in 1918.
Defining nature is difficult. Is everything in the universe part of nature?
